Science
Our current unit of study is "Wheels and Levers." Here are some links below to help your child review for this unit test. They include videos we have watched in class, games or reading. In addition, they should practice describing and explaining the simple machines we have covered so far using the vocabulary from this unit. Everything they need should be in their Science duotangs.

Gears
Read: "What do gears do...and how do we do it?" and "Four different ways to use gears" and "What's the catch?" www.explainthatstuff.com/gears.html Please note: Keep in mind that in the section titled Increase Force, the increase in force on the driven wheel not the driver. The driver gear is small so it requires less force to turn giving mechanical advantage similar to opening the water gates in "Introduction to Gears." The mechanical advantage of simple machines allows us to move or lift things we cannot generate enough force to lift.
